Dancing on Soybeans
‘Dancing on Soybeans’ shows how we have alienated ourselves from (the origin of) our food. The way we have organized the production and transport of food worldwide poses an increasing threat. An example is the explosive production growth of soybeans in the Amazon region, resulting in deforestation.
The movement of the bamboo slowly moves aside the soybeans lying (bounded) on the ground, revealing photographic prints of soybeans and their harvest, among other things. Two transparent columns of up-and-down moving bamboo manipulate a spatial articulation. The bamboo moves in an inimitable way and you get the feeling that at any moment it could fall apart like a Mikado.
